1996: Fans burn stands as Lankans make final
Sri Lanka staged a remarkable recover to make its first ever world cup
final. After being 35-3, it powered to 251-8, thanks to Aravinda De
Silva's 66 in 47 balls. India looked on target at 98-1, but a lightning
stumping off Tendulkar caused panic as the Lankan spinners tightened
the grip to leave it at 120-8. Crowd trouble caused the game to be
awarded to Sri Lanka by match referee Clive Lloyd. World Cup semi
final, Eden Gardens, Mar 1996.
