1977: Packer holds cards as England drub Aussies

A storm broke out as Kerry Packer announced his intention to form World Series Cricket it weakened Australia especially as the bulk of its players had signed up with Packer.

With Tony Greig having joined WSC as its ringleader England appointed Mike Brearley as their captain and he enjoyed great success against Australia.

Largely assisted by the return of Geoff Boycott, Brearley's England team won the 1977 series 3–0.
