1961 Ashes: Benaud inspires series win

A famous series as Australia fought back to win the series 2-1 and retain the Ashes. This 1961 series was a personal triumph for skipper Richie Benaud.

In the Third Test, England won by 8 wickets with Australia collapsing in their second innings from 99-2 to 120 all out thanks to Trueman's devastating spell of offcutters. He finished with figures of 6-30 having taken 5-58 in the first innings.

In the 4th Test at Old Trafford, skipper Richie Benaud helped his side win the Ashes with some mesmerising spin. Trailing after the first innings a century by Bill Lawry 102 helped set England a victory target of 256. From 150-1 England stumbled towards defeat when Benaud struck his 6 wickets sealing a 54 run victory with 20 minutes to go.
