Graeme Smith 223 not out and Neil McKenzie 169 not out batted throughout the entire day to put on a record opening stand of 405 as South Africa seized control of the second Test against Bangladesh on Day 1.
They are just shy of the world record 1st wicket stand of 413 by Pankaj Roy and Vinoo Mankad of India vs NZ in 1956.
