THIS VIDEO WILL BE POSTED HERE IN THE NEXT WEEKIn the post-Bradman era of the 1950’s, Neil Harvey ranked as the top Australian batsmen for a long sustained period, and was probably its best ever left handed batsman. Impeccable footwork, unfailing judgment and attacking cricket were his hallmark. Neil Harvey was an electrifying batsman who thrilled spectators with the splendour of his strokeplay. Despite his attacking flair, he was never stumped in his 137 test innings – a significant pointer to the exceptional footwork that he possessed. When he made his debut against India in 1948, Neil Harvey was only 19 years of age. That he made 153 in only his second test is well known – being only 1 of 3 Australian teenagers to score a test century. In his first test innings in England with the 1948 Invincibles team, Neil Harvey made a grand century to rescue Australia in difficult circumstances at Leeds – the youngest centurion in Ashes tests. Don Bradman said “That day, I watched every ball bowled to Harvey. It was one of the greatest innings of any batsman, old or young, has ever being played”. Neil Harvey also captained Australian to victory in the famous "Battle of the Ridge" Test at Lords (1960) and was a selector from 1967-1978, including the last 7 years as Chairman. In this multi-part interview with CricketCrowd, Neil Harvey discusses the memorable moments in his career, and also discloses some remarkable details that have never been revealed before.
